Job summary

Ferrero International S.A. in Bloomington, IL, seeks a Junior Packaging Technologist to support production and quality assurance in meeting specifications and food safety standards. The role focuses on applying procedures, monitoring packaging processes, and driving continuous improvement across operations.

You will assist in start-ups, maintain specifications and SOPs, and conduct tests and sensory assessments to enhance product quality while controlling costs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Production and Quality to ensure products meet specifications, quality standards, and food safety requirements through effective process monitoring, testing, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as the site technical expert on product characteristics, manufacturing processes, and troubleshooting, coordinating with corporate Quality and Technical teams.
• Monitor and analyze critical process parameters, product performance data, and quality results to ensure process consistency and finished product compliance.
• Maintain and communicate product specifications, formulas, SOPs, and production line settings; support procedure development, implementation, and training.
• Lead and support product, process, equipment, and production line start-ups, including testing, data collection, analysis, and process optimization.
• Conduct product evaluations, laboratory testing, sampling, and sensory assessments; analyze results and collaborate with Production and Quality to identify corrective actions and improve product quality.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying root causes of quality issues, reducing waste and product rejects, and enhancing manufacturing processes.
• Support production inspections and quality verification activities to ensure compliance with company, regulatory, and food safety standards.
• Train and coach production personnel on process controls, sampling methods, and product requirements.
• Promote and enforce all company policies, quality standards, and food safety programs.

We have a current opening for a Junior Packaging Technologiest and are actively reviewing applications.

In collaboration with Quality Assurance and Production, guarantee the proper application of the procedures using specifications, standards, methods and instruments to measure and monitor the development of the process in the product, during production. Familiar with all the distinguishing aspects of the product, supervising and safeguarding results of the semi-finished and finished goods and making necessary adjustments to the process/systems.

Perform standardized qualitative and quantitative tests to determine physical or chemical properties with the main objective of enhancing the product esthetically, preserving the product and cost-containing.
Enforce and promote all company guidelines, policies and procedures.

About You:

• Knowledge of, and advanced skill in, Organoleptic Testing (relating to sensory organs – taste);
• Ferrero product technical knowledge (in connection with mechanical/industrial application) and technological knowledge (relating to the science of the process applied to the product);
• Knowledge of industrial equipment, production process and technology, standard operating procedures, health & safety / quality standards and work instructions, industrial installations.
• Bachelor’s degree in biology with 1 -3 years of experience

The base compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This range represents the anticipated salary for this position at this time.
