Job summary

Barrel One Collective is seeking an Assistant Packaging Manager in Boston to lead packaging operations, oversee shifts, and ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met. You will collaborate with the Packaging Manager to train staff, develop SOPs, and report production activity on a fast-paced brewery floor.

The role demands strong mechanical aptitude, beverage-packaging expertise, and a track record of guiding teams.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of packaging or production experience in brewery or beverage setting.
• Experience leading packaging employees and independently running a production shift.
• Advanced knowledge of beverage-packaging equipment and processes (canning, kegging, filling, packing).
• Ability to troubleshoot packaging equipment and perform basic root-cause analysis.
• Strong leadership, communication, and training skills with SOP development experience.
• Proven ability to collaborate across maintenance, quality, warehouse, distribution, and production teams.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to complete forklift and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Independently lead assigned packaging shifts and oversee daily workflow when the Packaging Manager is unavailable.
• Assign work, coordinate opening/closing tasks, and provide direction to packaging staff.
• Lead meetings, communicate priorities, and address employee questions and concerns.
• Train and develop packaging employees during onboarding and ongoing employment.
• Provide performance feedback and participate in coaching and corrective-action discussions.
• Assist with interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new packaging team members.
• Provide direct production-line coverage as needed and act as primary contact off-shift.
• Direct packaging processes across canning, kegging, racking, and packing; ensure schedules and quality targets are met.
