Job summary

Tillamook is hiring a Packaging Sanitation (Graveyard) operator to support the final stages of our cheese production line. You will clean, setup, and operate packaging equipment, ensure safe sanitation, and prepare products for storage or shipment.

We seek reliable team players comfortable with graveyard shifts, weekend work, and following safety procedures. Prior packaging/manufacturing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word.
• Experience in packaging or other manufacturing operations is a plus.
• Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
• Able to work a graveyard shift including weekends and holidays.
• Effective communication: acts as a team player and interacts with staff at all levels of the company.
• Thorough knowledge of Tillamook products.

Responsibilities

• Operates the Packaging Sanitation area at the last stages of the cheese production line to pack finished products, label, and aggregate for storage or shipment.
• Cleans work areas and packaging lines; prepares and maintains sanitation schedules.
• Disassembles, cleans, and reassembles equipment and tools used in packaging and sanitation.
• Follows lockout, tagout (LOTO) procedures and safety guidelines.
• Handles chemicals and performs titration testing as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What you will do:

The PackagingSanitation Operator works at the last stages of the cheese manufacturing line to pack finished products label and aggregate them for storage or shipment to distribution outlets.

Here’s a day in the life:

• Cleans work areas with chemicals and sets up the support, grind, dump,trim, tailrooms.
• Cleans mains packaging lines prior to QA preoperational inspection.
• Disassembles, cleans, reassembles, and sets up the Hayssen, 8660, bagger, curd, smokehouse,industrialpatch slicer, cutter, boxermachines.
• Taping and inspecting seal bars on the 8600.
• Removes, cleans, and reinstalls machinebelts according to sanitation schedule.
• Titrattion chemical testing.
• Clean, repair, and set up hand patch slicers.
• Follow lockout, tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Chemical barrel handling and moving with lift.
• Cleaning and removal of chemical in the chemical trough including proper chemical disposing.
• Maintains and changes out wires on harps.
• Looks up, reads, and understands Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Follows sanitation schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word required.
• Experience in packaging or other manufacturing operations is a plus.

• Able to work a graveyardshift including weekends and holidays (cows don't understandholidays or weekends, they make milk every day).
• Effective communication: acts as a team player and interacts with staff at all levels of the company.

Physical Requirements:

• Using tool to break open flaps o boxes, gripping boxes to shake/remove blocks of cheese and gripping 5lb blocks of cheese.
• Frequent lifting and moving boxes and tubs of cheese.
• Standing and lifting 45# from 6" to 34" or waist and carrying 6 ft.
• Frequent lifting and moving tubs and blocks of cheese.
• Standing raising and lowering 45# tubs/blocks of cheese from pallet to conveyor from/to a height 34" to 54"
• Frequent lifting and moving tubs and blocks of cheese.
• Standing raising and lowering 45#’s 6" to 34".
• Moving pallets with hand pallet jack and pushing multiple tubs of cheese on carts.
• Push/Pull Capacity for Trim/Grind and Pallet relocation.
• Placing 45# from pallet to conveyor belt.
• Standing moving 45# from 34" shelf to place on stationary platform at a height of 34".
• Pull product size pieces of cheese from a cut 40# block of cheese.
• Pulling 2# Velcro pieces apart
