Job summary

Joseph Gallo Farms seeks an experienced Packaging Plant Supervisor to lead daily high-speed packaging operations. You will manage frontline staff, set objectives, and drive performance using KPIs to achieve efficiency and quality goals.

The role requires GMP compliance, food safety awareness, and a track record of reducing downtime while maintaining safety. On-site role in California with a strong emphasis on team leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum A.A. with B.S. or B.A. preferred.
• 5 years of supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of packaging equipment.
• Proven experience in food manufacturing with GMPs and safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of high-speed automated packaging lines, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Direct frontline packaging employees and leads, set daily objectives and KPIs.
• Establish SOPs, work schedules and training requirements; manage downtime and waste reduction.

RequirementsSummary of Functions:Lead effective daily operations and develop highly skilled packaging plant operations. Support the departmental goal of efficiency, high yields, quality production and equipment operations.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Directly manage frontline packaging employees and functional leads by establishing daily objectives and performance expectations.Lead daily operations of high-speed automated packaging lines, ensuring production schedules are met safely and efficiently.Responsibility for frontline employees including hiring, reviews, rewards, and disciplineSupport and lead packaging line changeovers while minimizing downtime and product loss.Manage daily process including but not limited to:Establish Operations Procedures (SOPs)Establish workload requirements, work schedules and plan task level assignmentsEstablish training needs and certifications requirementsEnsure safe operationUtilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, downtime, throughput, labor efficiency, yields, quality defects, and waste reduction to drive performance.Maintain composure in stressful situations, making sound decisions and communicating with management team as neededMotivate employees to higher achievementsSupporting the development of a process improvement programRecognize trends/indicators and reacts proactively to address potential problemsEnsure employees maintain industry guidelines for GMPProficiency in English required with Spanish language skills preferredComputer proficientFood Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:Comply with all Plant, State, and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP and SQF regulationsComply with GMP's in the plantAssist in the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality systemsOrganizational Relationships:Position reports to the Packaging Plant Manager.
