Overview

Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Packaging Pharmacy Technician is responsible for receiving and filling prescription requests for patients and completing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Initial training will be two weeks of working 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.


Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge and expertise to ensure that pharmaceutical processes and systems are followed appropriately according to policies and procedures, company performance, and accreditation standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, peers, and employees at all levels within the organization. Maintain clear lines of communication throughout issue-resolution processes.
  • Demonstrate personal performance based on professional practice standards, relevant statutes, rules and regulations, and organizational criteria.
  • Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for all medications.
  • Fill prescribed medications and affix labels as necessary.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas, including sterilization as required.
  • Order, label, and count stock medications, chemicals, and supplies, and enter inventory data.
  • Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, and report stock needs and/or shortages.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to be trained (if necessary) and work in a USP797/800 clean room environment as needed to meet business needs.
  • Must complete sufficient hours of CEU to maintain Technician license/certification. Ensure that all pharmaceutical services conform to state licensure, accreditation, regulatory agency requirements, and company policies.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by maintaining objectivity, self-control under pressure, emotional maturity, integrity, and promoting a positive work environment.
  • Notify management of critical information that may impact client/vendor relations or patient care.
  • Willingness to perform departmental duties in other areas as needed.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by management.
  • Work scheduled hours and mandatory overtime during peak times.
