Description Overview

Packaging Operator III 1st Shift; 6:40am-2:40pm Monday - Friday

  • Employee is responsible for consistently performing work at assigned station at or above production standards, performing visual parts inspection, and checking customer specifications under minimum supervision. Employee is also responsible for coordinating the activities of a small group of operators.
Scope of the Role
  • Employee is responsible for understanding the job requirements and knowing/understanding the procedures for each assigned packaging workstation.
  • Employee is responsible for following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and understand the importance of GMPs. Employee should be able to perform in-process inspections and properly record the inspections on the appropriate paperwork per GDP requirements.
  • Employee will visually inspect parts produced and separate parts for rework or rejection (assembly and packaging). As well as understand and know the defects for packaging (appearance, color, seal quality, print quality). Visual inspections include verifying the product spec. sheet, WIP documentation, production releases, and any quality issues as indicated by the specification.
  • Employees will gain the ability to learn how to perform trouble shooting and minor machine repairs.
  • Employees will set-up and operate machines at assigned workstation. Employee must be able to perform operator specified preventive maintenance activities and maintain equipment at a level which sustains equipment efficiencies.
  • Employee is responsible to change materials, set up labels, perform minor adjustments to machines, assist with machine changeovers, and retrieving materials as needed. Employee must be able to read the work order and picklist to ensure proper materials are used and work order specifications are met.
  • Coordinate the activities of assigned crew and communicate with material handlers during production runs and downtime to assure maximum efficiencies.
  • Enter data in the SAP system.
  • Support effective implementation of all GMP requirements and understand how it affects products/processes supported and/or owned.
  • Involvement with RedZone utilization as instructed.
Experience Required
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions in English, such as safety, quality, GMP and GDP guidelines
  • 6 months of manufacturing job experience
  • Working knowledge of computers knowis required to perform necessarytask such as finding and reading procedures, using computer terminals.
  • Basic math and reading comprehension skills are also required.
