Job summary

Balance Staffing is seeking a dependable Packaging Operator to manage and monitor automated packaging equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing setting in Selma, TX. This contract or contract-to-hire role runs 1st shift (Mon-Thu, 6am-4pm) with an starting hourly rate around $18 per hour.

You will operate HMI-controlled machines, perform basic preventive maintenance, ensure safety and quality, and document production and downtime while collaborating with maintenance and quality teams to

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting.
• Experience with HMI touch-screen controls and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety procedures.
• Previous experience operating automated packaging equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve minor machine issues, jams, and operational faults
• Complete production, quality, and downtime documentation accurately
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on equipment
• Follow all food safety, GMP, HACCP, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
• Inspect finished packages to ensure proper seals, weights, labeling, and overall quality
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
• Operate automated packaging equipment using an HMI (Human-Machine Interface) control panel
• Perform product changeovers, recipe selection, and equipment setup for different production runs
• Communicate effectively with maintenance, quality, and production teams to minimize downtime
• Set up machines for production runs, including loading packaging materials and adjusting machine parameters
