Teva Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Packaging Setup Operator in New Jersey to manage set-up and operation of packaging lines, perform changeovers, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure compliant, high-quality output. The candidate should have 2-5 years of experience in FDA-regulated environments, a high school diploma or technical certification, and the ability to work extended hours.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Technical / Trade School certification required.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in FDA regulated environment desirable.
  • Knowledge of packaging equipment including listed devices.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical and electrical operations associated with packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, assess anomalies, and determine impact on operations.
  • Apply basic mechanical and electrical concepts to resolve problems effectively.
  • Make sound decisions based on deductive reasoning and potential product impact.
  • Perform accurate and timely changeovers of packaging line equipment for different bottle/cap sizes and products, documenting activities per procedures.
  • Conduct corrective and preventive maintenance, adjusting equipment to meet output speed and quality standards.
  • Multitask effectively, responding to alarms, indications, and operational trends.
  • Operate packaging lines and equipment per Packaging Batch Records for maximum output, safety, and quality compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Navigate Operator Interface Terminals (OITs) for template entry, verification, and performance calculations.
  • Respond to faults and error messages, assess product impact, and address root causes promptly.
  • Provide support to other packaging lines and personnel as needed.
  • Communicate effectively, impart urgency regarding quality, and work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Ensure compliance with CGMP, SOPs, Lock Out Tag Out, DEA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area during all operations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and perseverance, including working extended hours when necessary.
  • Perform duties of Material Handler and/or Line Leader when required.
  • Train other Packaging Setup Operators and Material Handlers/Line Leaders.

The Packaging Setup Operator is a mechanically skilled individual capable of functioning as a Packaging Mechanic while also performing the duties of a Packaging Operator and/or Line Leader. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills for minor electrical and mechanical issues on packaging equipment, ensuring efficient and compliant operations.

How You’ll Spend Your Day

Your Skills and Experience
  • High School Diploma required
  • Technical / Trade School certification required
  • Equipment troubleshooting training desired
  • 2-5 years’ experience in FDA regulated environment desirable
  • Knowledge of various packaging equipment, including:
    • Tablet/Capsule Slat & Channel Filler
    • Bottle Unscrambler
    • Cottoner
    • Capper
    • Desiccant Inserter
    • Induction Sealer
    • Labeler
    • Case Former
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation systems associated with packaging equipment
  • Knowledge of Serialization/Aggregation processes on packaging lines
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift
  • Ability to wear appropriate safety gear
  • Ability to perform strenuous repairs for approximately 6 hours per shift
  • Ability to stand for approximately 6 hours per shift
  • Ability to work at elevation with appropriate safety gear
  • Vision accuracy and color detection required
