Job summary

Accelera in Somerset, New Jersey is seeking a skilled Packaging Mechanic for the 3rd shift to maintain and repair pharmaceutical packaging machinery.

The role requires performing setups, changeovers, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, PLC, and pneumatic systems while ensuring GMP compliance and safe operation.

The ideal candidate will interpret schematics, maintain PM logs, and support operators to maximize line uptime on high-speed packaging lines.

Qualifications

• Maintains pharmaceutical packaging machinery to ensure line uptime.
• Diagnose/mechanical/electrical/PLC and pneumatic issues on packaging lines.
• Performs preventive maintenance and routine repairs to minimize downtime.
• Interprets electrical/mechanical schematics to complete tasks.

Responsibilities

• Set up, changeover, fine-tune and repair packaging lines.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, PLC, and pneumatic components.
• Maintain PM logs and work orders, preferably in SAP or similar system.

Job description

Our Somerset, New Jersey production facility is searching for a skilled Packaging Mechanic for the 3rd shift. We need a professional with a strong background in the maintenance and technical repair of pharmaceutical packaging machinery.

Primary Responsibilities and Qualifications

• Execute equipment setups, changeovers, fine-tuning, and repairs to ensure packaging lines run smoothly.
• Assist in high-speed production tasks to help the team meet validated operational standards.
• Diagnose and resolve issues involving mechanical, electrical, PLC, and pneumatic components.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and address equipment failures to minimize downtime and keep production moving.
• Utilize expertise with automated systems including bottle fillers, cappers, labelers, cartoners, case packers, conveyors, and serialization units.
• Interpret and utilize technical electrical and mechanical schematics for daily tasks.
• Operate safely within industrial electrical environments involving 120V to 480V systems.
• Apply knowledge of GMP/cGMP standards, specifically within a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.
• Manage essential maintenance logs, work orders, and PM documentation, ideally using SAP or comparable software.
• Contribute to machine upgrades and ongoing efficiency enhancements to improve overall output.
• Apply skills in welding, fabrication, and electro-pneumatic diagnostics.
• Provide guidance and training to packaging operators regarding machine functions and changeover procedures.
