This is an exciting opportunity to join LNK International's quickly growing team in Hauppauge, NY.

As the Packaging Maintenance Manager you will lead day-shift maintenance of pharmaceutical bottling and packaging lines through hands-on technical leadership, effective personnel supervision, preventive maintenance planning, and continuous improvement. The manager works alongside mechanics to demonstrate proper methods, build capability, and earn credibility while retaining accountability for management duties.

Responsibilities Include:
Leadership and Mechanic Development
  • Direct, coach, and evaluate day-shift maintenance mechanics; assign work and maintain accountability for quality, productivity, and conduct.
  • Provide hands-on demonstrations of diagnosis, adjustments, repairs, and preventive maintenance; teach root-cause thinking rather than indiscriminate parts replacement.
  • Assess individual skill gaps, coordinate documented training, and verify that mechanics can independently perform tasks after coaching.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing, coverage, and training plans; address performance concerns through company procedures.
Maintenance Planning and Reliability
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules and review completion and effectiveness.
  • Prioritize corrective maintenance based on safety, product quality, and production impact.

Resources and Improvement
  • Coordinate service vendors and planned maintenance windows; support equipment upgrades and technical improvement projects led by Engineering.
  • Review critical spare parts, consumption, and replacement justification with the parts function.
  • Identify maintenance cost and reliability improvement opportunities and communicate recommendations to the Head of Engineering.
Safety, Quality and Compliance
  • Ensure maintenance activities follow applicable cGMP requirements, approved procedures, and equipment documentation practices.
  • Apply lockout/tagout and other required safety controls; coordinate with Quality Assurance before returning affected equipment to production when approval is required.
  • Prevent unauthorized modifications to validated settings, equipment configurations, or PLC programs; escalated changes through Engineering and applicable change-control processes.
Communication and Coordination
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities with Production and Engineering while maintaining clear ownership of assigned-shift activities.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, repair records, parts usage, and shift handoffs, identifying unresolved issues and required follow-up.
  • Escalate technical issues beyond maintenance capabilities to Engineering Technicians, who report separately to the Head of Engineering.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or associate degree preferred.
  • Typically 7–10 years of industrial maintenance experience and 3–5 years of supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated hands-on maintenance experience with automated pharmaceutical or similarly regulated packaging machinery, including bottling lines.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability and working knowledge of pneumatics, sensors, motors, drives, electrical systems, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP maintenance documentation and safe equipment repair practices.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold maintenance personnel accountable.
Performance Measures

Equipment uptime and repeat failures; quality and timeliness of repairs; preventive maintenance completion; mechanic development and accountability; safety and cGMP documentation; shift communication and escalation.
