Job summary

Compact Industries, Inc. is seeking a Second Shift Lead to oversee the packaging line, directing up to two machines and guiding Packers/Stackers to achieve production goals.

You will monitor equipment, enforce quality specs, and coordinate with teams to maximize efficiency while maintaining safety standards. The role requires 1–3 years of manufacturing experience, ability to lift 50 lbs, stand most of the shift, and apply GMPs and HACCP guidelines as needed.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Stand or walk 95% of the time; perform bending and stooping.
  • Ability to calculate simple mathematical figures.
  • Strong problem solving and ability to troubleshoot.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow finished product specs to manufacture and package quality products.
  • Start machines and observe operation; make minor adjustments/repairs as needed.
  • Direct, train, and correct Packers and Stackers on the line.
  • Run equipment at designed rates; troubleshoot to reduce downtime.
  • Maximize packaging yields and minimize waste; provide break relief.
  • Oversee rework, machine disassembly/reassembly, and setup/monitor checkweigher.
  • Monitor metal detectors and safety/GMP compliance.
  • Complete production forms and report material shortages.
  • Follow safety and GMP procedures; participate in training and meetings.

Second Shift: 3 pm - 1 amPURPOSE:Lead and oversee the operation of up to two machines, coordinating all activities on the packaging line to ensure maximum efficiency. Drive team collaboration and guide team members to optimize productivity and maintain smooth workflow operations.RESPONSIBILITIES:Read and understand Compact’s finished product specifications to manufacture and package a quality product which meets all customer and Compact specifications.Start machine and observe operation to detect malfunctions with the machine, if required make minor adjustments and repairs.Direct, train, and correct behaviors of Packers and Stackers on the production line.Run equipment at designed rates, troubleshoot problems and reduce equipment downtime.Stop machine if product does not meet specifications or is malfunctioning and report this stoppage to supervisor.Maximize packaging yields and efficiency while eliminating waste.Provide break relief for Packers and Stackers.Oversee and open all products that need rework.Perform machine disassembly, washes, and reassembly.Set up and monitor checkweigher.Monitor metal detectors to ensure they are working properly.Complete production forms using SafetyChain.Advise supervisor on any order or raw material shortages.Understand and be able to apply each of the following programs during production: Allergen (especially during changeovers), HACCP, GMPs.Understand the importance of when the product does not meet specifications, work with other departments to correct the deviation as soon as possible.Keep the work area clean.Active participation in training and attend department meetings as required.Follow and enforce all safety and GMP procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.Stand or walk 95% of the time and perform bending, twisting, and stooping motions.High School diploma or GED.Ability to calculate simple mathematical figures.Ability to apply common sense and effectively follow detailed written or verbal instructions.Problem solving and addressing issues as they arise.Ability to troubleshooting and resolve issues efficiently.Do you want to transform your job into a career?Compact Industries, Inc. is a women/family-owned company, and we are looking for energetic people that are eager for success to join our team.
