Utz Quality Foods in Kings Mountain, NC is seeking an experienced Packaging Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will set up lines, monitor packaging quality, calibrate scales, and assist with repairs and sanitation to ensure safe, efficient production.

This full-time role requires basic reading, writing and math, the ability to lift 50 lbs, and willingness to obtain a forklift license. You’ll work on a rotating schedule and collaborate with a hardworking, safety‑driven team

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Knowledge of all packaging machine equipment and machines used in Packaging Department.
• Willingness to obtain forklift license.
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Basic computer skills to enter component usage.
• Teamwork and good communication with others.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up packaging lines correctly and efficiently.
• Perform daily operator checklists at shift changes and startup.
• Verify proper operations and calibrate scales on packaging machines.
• Gather packaging film and ensure proper codes and pricing are printed on packages.
• Use appropriate formers and adjust temperatures to achieve proper seals on packages.
• Monitor packaging quality hourly: item weight, package seals, codes and pricing.
• Record film usage and calculate film waste percentages.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate shifts on any issues or improvements.
• Maintain sanitary work environment and complete sanitation tasks as directed.
• Assist Maintenance with packaging machine repairs when necessary.
• Train new operators as needed.
• Complete bag percentage reports, production records, and correct scanning errors.
• Perform quality and food safety tasks as required.
