American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of wood shavings and related products with multiple locations. The Packaging Machine Operator on the 2nd shift in Laurinburg, NC will help maximize hands-on production and shipping in a safe and efficient manner.

The role requires physical capability, including lifting up to 50 lbs and performing outdoor duties as needed, along with adherence to safety and quality standards. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Physical ability to bend, squat, or stoop.
• Experience with mobile equipment and/or forklift preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attend monthly safety meetings.
• Wear PPE as required and complete required trainings with sufficient results.
• Operate equipment safely to produce packaged materials for AWF customers and follow shift supervisor instructions.
• Assist with cleaning up the work area.
• Place an empty bag on the fill tube, seal, place in master pack, and palletize (up to 40 lbs).
• Perform outdoor duties such as sweeping, debris removal, watering flowers/shrubbery, shoveling snow, and deicing walkways.
• Maintain and verify current quality assurance measures.

We are currently seeking a candidate for the 2nd Shift Packaging Machine Operatorrole in ourLaurinburg, NC facility.

JOB SUMMARY

The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for working in a safe, efficient manner to maximize hands‑on production and shipping of wood shavings.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• SAFETY
  • Attend monthly safety meetings
  • Wear PPE as required
  • Attend trainings as needed and complete required testing with sufficient results
• PRODUCTION
  • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner producing packaged materials for AWF customers
  • Confers with shift supervisor and follows through with assigned work duties
  • Assist with cleaning up work area
  • Place an empty bag on the fill tube, seal, place in master pack, and hand palletize (up to 40 lbs.)
• OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
  • Perform outside duties to include sweeping, picking up debris, watering flowers and shrubbery, shoveling snow, and deicing walkways as required
• QUALITY
  • Maintain and verify that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Physical capability to bend, squat, or stoop
• Previous mobile equipment and/or forklift preferred

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly
• Ability to respond quickly to sounds
• Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
• Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
• Ability to work in extreme weather
• Be able to climb stairs and/or ladder to the stacking station areas
• Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly
• Candidate MUST be able to work in a smoke‑free environment
