Responsibilities

Packaging Machine Operator

Dedication, Dependability, and a Willingness to learn are a must. The PMO will be responsible for running, changing over, and ensuring the efficiency and quality of 3‑5 packaging machines. They will communicate changes and plans to Team Members in the immediate area and supervise. A required set of tasks must be performed on a computer at specific times throughout the shift. Job duties include the set up and operation of packaging equipment, following precise recipes and work procedures, monitoring and adjusting variables, performing product quality tests, and collecting data. Extruded Processor must also react to direction from quality assurance and management personnel. PMO's will be exposed to allergens, chemicals, extreme equipment, and temperatures, and will be expected to multi‑task, prioritize, and use hand tools throughout the day.

• Leadership – The PMO will set the example for the line, following all policies and procedures set forth by Shearer's Foods LLC. They must work well with others and demonstrate Shearer's Core Values of Respect, Teamwork, and Giving Back.
• Troubleshooting Skills – Must work through problems to find root causes and address issues for Mechanical and Automation Equipment. 2-5 years machine operator or maintenance apprentice experience preferred.
• Computer Skills – Must possess basic computer skills required to run production, with verifications performed routinely throughout the day.
• Time Management – Must effectively manage own time. Quality verifications will occur at specific intervals, and the PMO is responsible for completing changeovers promptly and planning breaks around activity lulls.
• Flexibility – The PMO may need flexibility during the training period and be available for pre‑shift meetings when applicable. Must work weekends and overtime when needed.
• Physical Demands – The PMO must move, twist, or lift up to 60 lbs and team‑lift 75 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment. The Team Member must stand for 12+ hours, maintaining a fast, repetitious pace and performing repetitive lifting.
