Job summary

Wyld Packaging Lead in Tacoma, WA oversees packaging operations and prepares products for distribution, guiding the packaging team, and ensuring accuracy and efficiency. The role reports to the Packaging Manager and requires a flexible schedule including shift openings/closings.

We seek at least 1 year in food production or manufacturing, plus supervisory experience, strong sanitation knowledge, and excellent English communication. Background check and 21+ age are required.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of related food production or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in lead or supervisory roles.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety regulations in food manufacturing.
  • Effective English communication, both verbal and written.
  • Must pass a background check and be 21+ years old.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area for yourself and others.
  • Perform basic visual quality inspections on products.
  • Maintain packaging flow by ensuring adequate product levels at each station.
  • Observe and coach Packaging Support team to meet quotas.
  • Maintain high QA/QC standards during shifts and minimize waste.
  • Collaborate with others under high-pressure conditions with urgency.
  • Communicate discrepancies in quantities or quality of product.
  • Open and close shifts, ensuring proper daily handoffs.
  • Ensure proper storage and sanitation compliance for all materials.
  • Support training and coaching of Packaging staff with Supervisors.
  • Report safety or quality discrepancies to Supervisors/Managers.

Summary

The Packaging Lead packages and prepares all packaging products for distribution by performing all duties meticulously and assisting with the daily workflow. The Packaging Lead supports packaging team members when a Supervisor is not present. They are also responsible for training and coaching packaging team members in collaboration with Supervisors and Managers. This role opens and/or closes shifts and must be able to work a flexible schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area for yourself and other employees
  • Perform basic visual quality inspections on products
  • Maintain packaging flow by ensuring adequate product levels at each station
  • Ensure quotas are met by observing Packaging Support team members and training/coaching
  • Maintain high-quality standards during shifts including constant QA/QC of all products being prepped and produced
  • Ability to work well with others in high-pressure situations with a sense of urgency
  • Communicate discrepancies in quantities or quality of product
  • Perform opening and closing duties
  • Ensure proper storage of all facility consumables and products; storing food products in compliance with safety practices
  • Maintain and comply with sanitation and safety standard; maintaining a clean and organized packaging area and work environment
  • Perform visual quality inspections on products, minimize waste where possible
  • Effectively communicate information and respond to questions/suggestions from various levels within the company
    • Assist Production Supervisors and Managers in training and coaching Packaging Support employees on proper procedures, techniques and compliance protocol
    • Communicate quality or safety discrepancies to Supervisors, Managers and/or Directors
  • Makes recommendations to management regarding personnel evaluation and training of the Packaging Support team
  • Assist the Production Manager or Packaging Supervisor as needed
  • Ensure a safe working environment; reviewing and communicating daily on all safety related topics of discussion
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs
Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of directly related experience and/or training in a food production or manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 year of lead or supervisory experience
  • Must have experience and familiarity with food manufacturing, sanitation and safety regulations
  • Must have experience working with a high sense of urgency
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft suite (core applications), Google, Slack, experience in Jira and/or other management platforms and software preferred
  • Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written
  • Math Skills: Possess basic mathematical skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel required between buildings and sites
  • Ability to maintain/manage confidential information
  • State regulations require all applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • ServSafe or Food Handler's Card preferred
  • Will be required to submit to a background check
  • Must obtain all applicable state-required permits, licenses, and certifications
