Job summary

ProAmpac in Elgin, IL is seeking a Project Development Engineer to drive new packaging projects from concept through commercialization. You will lead trials, qualify materials, and optimize manufacturing processes to meet customer expectations and business goals.

This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate across Innovation, Operations, Quality, Procurement, and customers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years in packaging manufacturing, processing, or product development.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Experience leading manufacturing trials and product development projects.
• Knowledge of packaging materials, adhesives, barrier technologies, and lamination processes.
• Ability to analyze technical data and make recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Manage new product development projects against milestones and delivery timelines.
• Develop trial plans, testing protocols, and validation activities for new opportunities.
• Define product structures and ensure correct setup in systems.
• Collaborate with Quality to design trials and preventive controls.
• Lead production trials and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges.
• Analyze trial results and document observations and outcomes.
• Maintain technical documentation to support quotations and commercialization.
