Job summary

Nefab Packaging Americas seeks a Packaging Engineer to bridge innovative packaging design with high-volume manufacturing for wood and plywood solutions. You will review, optimize, and approve existing packaging designs for manufacturability while developing new concepts that meet performance, cost, and production objectives.

You will engage early with designers, engineers, and TAMs to ensure designs are production-ready, support prototyping and validation, and help standardize proven solutions

Packaging Engineer, Nefab Packaging Americas

Nefab Group is on a growth journey and we are dependent on high-performance people to succeed, and we are now looking for a Packaging Design Engineer to join our team in Nefab.

As a Packaging Engineer for wood and plywood solutions, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between innovative packaging design and high-volume, cost-efficient manufacturing. You will review, optimize, and approve existing packaging designs for manufacturability, while also developing new design concepts that meet performance, cost, and production objectives. You will contribute to ensuring that Nefab's wood and plywood packaging solutions are engineered for quality, scalability, and profitability from concept through commercialization.

You will be part of the Operations organization, working cross-functionally with Project Managers, Sales, Sourcing, and Technical Account Managers (TAM). In this role, you will engage early in the design process to understand customer needs, collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and TAMs to ensure designs are optimized for production and assembly before customer approval, and support prototyping and sample validation across the region. You will also lead continuous improvement initiatives and help standardize proven design solutions across similar applications and product segments throughout the Nefab organization.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Wood Products Engineering, Forest Products Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• 8+ years of experience in wood and plywood packaging design for manufacturing, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated expertise in Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly principles
• Strong knowledge of wood species, plywood construction, material properties, and wood conversion processes including cutting, machining, routing, fastening, and assembly
• Proven experience evaluating and optimizing existing designs to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce material waste, simplify assembly, and enhance product quality
• Proficiency in CAD software for design review
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with Sales, Sourcing, Operations, and Technical Account Managers
