Job summary

Rheem North America Division in Montgomery, AL or Fort Smith, AR (Hybrid) is seeking a Packaging Engineer responsible for packaging development and testing for new products, cost reductions, and supporting supply chain effectiveness for Rheem’s Water Heater Products.

You will engage with development teams on design for product transport, packaging concepts, and testing through suppliers and internal resources, with relocation assistance and about 10% travel to align with strategic requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Experience with ASTM, ISTA, ISO packaging standards is required.
• Experience developing packaging test protocols representing a total supply chain is preferred.
• Knowledge of packaging materials, applications and equipment is required.
• Experience with ArtiosCad or SolidWorks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop packaging for new products, cost reductions and other projects.
• Define and maintain packaging test protocols (PTP) in the qualification of packaging designs.
• Guide development teams in the assessment and design of products for total supply chain loads and handling.
• Coordinate packaging concepts, creation of functional prototypes, and testing through suppliers and internal resources.
• Maintain portfolio of packaging projects, assignments and success metrics for timely deployment.
• Investigate and troubleshoot packaging problems and opportunities, documenting findings and actions.
