Tyson Foods is seeking a Packaging Engineer I in Springdale, AR to support the development and execution of packaging solutions that protect product integrity and meet cost and quality goals. You will work with R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, and Procurement to drive packaging innovations and sustainability across product categories.
The role emphasizes cross-functional teamwork, execution of packaging trials, and data-driven improvements while aligning with regulatory and quality standards.
Job Summary: The Packaging Engineer I supports the development and execution of packaging solutions that ensure product integrity, meets business needs, and delivers value to consumers. This role is responsible for assisting in packaging design, testing, implementation, and optimization projects across Tyson’s product categories. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the engineer helps drive innovation, sustainability, and cost-efficiency in packaging while gaining foundational experience in food packaging development. The individual in this role will also support Supply Chain and BU function in manufacturing packages that meet customer and consumer expectation for character, cost, and quality in assigned product category.
Bachelor's, Master’s or a PhD degree in Packaging Engineering, or a related field of study, or a significant amount of equivalent, relevant, and practical work experience, is required.
1+ year of relevant and practical work experience is required with a Bachelor's degree; no years of experience is required with a Master's+ degree; Additionally, previous experience with food packaging is a plus
Good critical thinking, problem solving skills, and project management skills. Requires basic computer skills in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Cape, Tops, ArtiosCad, CAD, Specright, etc. is a plus.
Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills required. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with cross functional business partners.
