Job summary

Ford Energy, a Ford Motor Company subsidiary focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems, seeks a Packaging Engineer to lead material flow and packaging initiatives at the Glendale, KY site. You will optimize supply chains for packaging of battery components in a high-paced, automated gigafactory environment.

You will collaborate with purchasing and suppliers, drive line balancing and labor efficiency, and push continuous improvement through Kaizen and lean methods.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment (internship/coop counts).
  • 1+ year of experience deploying packaging and interfacing with automation.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional projects around material flow and packaging interfacing with automation and operators.
  • Collaborate with Ford Purchasing and suppliers to quote, analyze bids, and procure production fleets.
  • Monitor packaging developments for quality and planning to ensure standards are met.
  • Forecast operating expenses and capital budgets; manage OPEX and CAPEX.
  • Schedule and conduct transportation testing; define pass/fail criteria and corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead Kaizen activities to optimize returnable and disposable packaging fleets.
  • Improve part protection, functionality, density and durability.
  • Advance packaging engineering with new technologies, methods, and ideas.
