Job summary

Ascendion is seeking a Packaging Engineer in Seattle to lead quality programs for packaging materials, emphasizing plastics, pulp, and paper. You will analyze signals, drive investigations, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

You will collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams across geographies to deliver packaging improvements within tight timelines, leveraging your QA expertise and attention to regulatory detail.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in packaging and quality
• Experience developing quality programs and supplier quality systems
• Knowledge of GFSI, HACCP, ISO or BRC standards
• Background in plastics, pulp, and paper materials
• Understanding of Food Safety and Quality requirements
• Interpreting QA task protocols

About the Role

• Job Title: Packaging Engineer
• Location: Seattle, 98134

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively analyze product and supplier quality signals, metrics, audit data, customer feedback, regulator, and workgroup input. Identify trends and lead investigation and resolution of packaging related concerns from regulators, retail stores, field QA partners or internal and external customers.
• Interface and influence suppliers and cross-functional teams, including internationally based partners, to deliver results within demanding timelines. Acts as a Retail Food Packaging Product Safety and Quality system expert in the development of new packaging initiatives or operating practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience
• Experience developing and implementing quality programs and product standards or manufacturer and supplier quality system and product quality auditing with an emphasis in materials (3-5 years)
• Progressive experience managing the development and review of information required to comply with product safety and quality (3-5 years)
• Strong packaging and material science background with emphasis in plastics, pulp, and paper (3-5 years)
• Basic understanding of Food Safety and Quality GFSI requirements
• Interpreting QA task protocols as needed
• Disposable cups and lids

Desired Qualifications

• Quality Management System knowledge including HACCP, GMPs, ISO or GFSI and BRC complaint standards

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between [$90,000 - $100,000 annually]. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
