Job summary

Pratt Industries, Inc. in Ohio seeks a Structural Designer to create cost-effective, functional packaging and POP displays. You will redesign elements for performance and cost, collaborating with Sales, Project Management, Graphic Design, Production, and Fulfillment.

The role requires experience in packaging design, solid materials knowledge, and proficiency with ArtiosCAD and related tools. A strong portfolio and ability to meet tight deadlines are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; strong portfolio emphasized.
• Minimum 3 years of packaging design experience with a solid portfolio.
• Experience from concept through production and cost optimization.
• Familiarity with ISTA testing requirements is beneficial.
• Proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop and 3D design tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design packaging solutions for corrugated boxes and other materials.
• Collaborate with Sales to understand client needs and provide customized solutions.
• Develop designs based on appearance, functionality, serviceability, materials, production methods, and client/retail specifications.
• Use ArtiosCAD and other software to create detailed designs and prototypes.
• Prepare working drawings from sketches and design specifications.
• Inspect and construct packaging samples to ensure the final product meets requirements.
• Present design concepts to clients, either individually or in collaboration with Sales.
• Accurately generate Bill of Materials, drawing specifications, pallet layouts, and die lines.
• Manage tight deadlines and work outside regular hours to meet client needs.
