Job summary

WestRock Company is seeking a Packaging Engineer to design, develop and analyze innovative protective packaging for customers, focusing on cost reduction. The role collaborates with customers’ engineering and purchasing teams to assess feasibility and costs, and requires onsite work at the Fontana, CA branch.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in corrugated packaging, is proficient in Artios CAD (SolidWorks preferred), and can lead testing, documentation and cost-efficiency projects while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or related work experience in packaging/engineering.
• 5+ years corrugated or related packaging experience required.
• Experience with packaging materials (foam, flexible packaging, etc.).
• Expertise using Artios CAD or similar design programs (SolidWorks preferred).
• Proficiency creating/editing MS Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Develop sketches, specifications, samples and analyses for customer packaging proposals.
• Coordinate package testing and validate results to guide design decisions.
• Drive cost reduction opportunities and Total Cost Analysis.
• Lead design direction and CAD-based development of structures and assemblies.
• Collaborate with Sales to win customer projects and address issues.
• Travel up to 25% as needed.
