Packaging Center Associate Job Description

Reports to: Packaging Center Supervisor/Manager

Position Summary:

The Packaging Center Associate is responsible for picking/packing products for assembly prior to creating a finished part.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Determine preparation needs for each individual packaging assignment.
• Organize items and/or assemble kits into completed products.
• Utilize handheld iPod device to locate inventory, assemble product and a finished part.
• Check accuracy and prepare part for shipment utilizing tote scanning.
• Package work orders utilizing proper packing methods.
• Correctly inspect and assemble parts according to the provided instructions and images.
• Perform quality control functions such as checking that labels and cards correctly identify the contents of the package, and quality checks on assembly components.
• Meet and maintain accuracy and productivity level requirements.
• Assist with routine cycle counts.
• Work in team environment.
• Promote and maintain a clean and safe work environment by complying with procedures, policies, training, and regulations.
• Ensure established policies and procedures are followed.
• Participate in continuous improvement project team activities.
• Partake in overall housekeeping of distribution center including cleaning, organizing, dusting, sweeping, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED, required.

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to effectively communicate with leadership, managers, leads, and peers through speaking, listening, and writing.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other job-related equipment and software.
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Willing to participate in Company designated training.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision/guidance.
• Adapt to frequent changes in the work environment.
• Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the company handbook.
• Must be able to practice safe work habits.

Physical Demands:

This is a General Warehouse position that requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and use of hands continuously for eight hours. This position requires lifting/moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally with assistance lifting/moving up to 100 pounds. This position requires extended amounts of time walking and climbing stairs. This position requires frequent work time beyond an eight-hour shift/40-hour week including shift rotation and weekends. This position requires the operation of basic office equipment.
