As a Packager on 1st Shift at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to set up and operate banding equipment to properly package materials and prepare them for shipment to our customers. In this role, you will be exposed to our finished goods and gain insights into our customers and end products.

How you’ll contribute to our company:

  • Prepare skids according to customer specifications
  • Operate turnstile, down layer, banding line equipment, and crane as needed to package materials
  • Package materials to meet customer specifications using provided information and standard instructions
  • Ensure proper identification and segregation of materials
  • Operate forklift and/or overhead crane to transport materials within the facility
  • Handle materials safely to prevent damage
  • Maintain cleanliness of the packaging area and other assigned areas
  • Maintain production standards
  • Load, transport, unload, and stack materials following established procedures

Here’s what is needed to be successful:

  • Ability to use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
  • Ability to follow safety rules and requirements
  • Pass forklift certification and/or crane training
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally
