## Package Engineering Associate DirectorApply: Boston, MA: Full time: Posted Today: REQ-30132**Job Description****General Summary:**The Package Engineering Associate Director has an established track record of both technical and project leadership, exerting broad influence both within and outside the Technical Operations organization. This role is accountable for effectively managing overall relationships with key partners and ensuring the success of manufacturing operations.**Key Duties and Responsibilities:*** Provides leadership in one or more technical areas* Responsible for overall relationship with key suppliers of materials, technology and manufacturing resources* Coordinates activities and leverages best practices across multiple projects and suppliers* Manages and designs key packaging activities including packaging design and specification, equipment and tooling design and qualification, labeling, material selection, testing, and sourcing* Collaborates with multiple stakeholders including Pharmaceutical Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and Marketing to meet project timelines and objectives* Liaises with Regulatory Affairs and Quality to provide packaging documentation supporting process validation, product release and regulatory filings* Evaluates process performance to lead continuous improvement activities and apply best practices for commercial products* Assists in the creation of department goals**Knowledge and Skills:*** Experience in one or multiple packaging disciplines including materials and closure systems, design of secondary and tertiary components, component compatibility, component qualification, equipment installation and qualification.* Experience supporting packaging for pharmaceutical products from research through registration and launch* Advanced knowledge of cGMP’s and associated CMC regulatory considerations in a pharmaceutical environment* Emerging knowledge across multiple technical areas* Strong communication, collaboration and team building skills; ability to connect with all levels of the organization* Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects with high degree of effectiveness* Ability to navigate a fast-paced, strong-matrix work environment* Ability to travel domestic and international (approximately 30%)**Education and Experience:*** Bachelor's Degree in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical, Material Engineering, or a relevant discipline* Typically requires 8 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of advanced education and experience At Vertex, we embrace continuous learning and encourage employees to stay informed on advances in AI, technology, automation, and industry trends. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
