Job summary

Wolverine Industries is seeking a Packer to ensure finished goods are packed to customer specifications and to inspect for defects during packing. The role requires reading production documents, maintaining clean workspaces, and supporting continuous improvements on the packing line.

The employee will train upcoming team members, operate packing machinery, and coordinate with shipping to keep orders ready for trucks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Ability to achieve forklift and crane certifications (prior forklift and side loader experience a plus).
• Manufacturing experience working in industrial production is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pack material from age racks and place the material in proper packing material, proper nesting, and piece count verification.
• Inspect material for cut length, profile conformation, and quality standard process are followed.
• Keep workspace organized and clean, restock packing supplies, contribute to continuous improvements.
• Ensure that production requirements and standards are met consistently.
• Make every effort to increase productivity and efficiency without compromising quality.
• Complete packaging tasks such as assembly, stacking, and binding.
• Operate machinery correctly and maintain it with care.
• Report any machinery issues to management.
• Work cooperatively with the production team to meet quotas and goals.
• Set up packing queue to ensure the next to ship orders are ready for trucks. Have packing stations ready for pack teams to work.
• Quality procedure confirmation, proper packing recipes being utilized and all teams working at an acceptable pace.
• Manage movement of material to maximum packer production.
• Train new TM's to procedures, drive continuous improvement efforts and work directly with shipping to support packing/shipping plan.
