Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited institution with 10+ years of related experience; or comparable experience in lieu of degree.
  • Basic knowledge of Kubernetes and associated services.
  • Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering and/or Software Engineering on large-scale, complex projects.
  • Experience with submarine combat systems or similar C5I systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret (or higher) security clearance.
  • Experience leading a team and working with dispersed/virtual teams.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the PaaS team and coordinate with SWFTS subsystems, ensuring clear communication.
  • Lead development, test, and integration of the PaaS product to meet subsystem and Navy needs.
  • Set team goals, manage assignments, and present milestones for review.
  • Mentor team members and coordinate career development with leadership.
  • Communicate program objectives and align team priorities with overall strategy.
  • Own the master schedule, track milestones, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and schedule risks.
  • Enforce processes and drive continuous improvement with the team.
  • Assess staffing needs and allocate resources across projects.
  • Provide practical solutions to complex technical problems aligned with program objectives.
  • Influence program strategy and roadmap discussions with senior leadership.

The Submarine C5I Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) program is seeking a full‑time, highly motivated PaaS Team Lead. As a Team Lead, you will guide a cross‑functional team through design, integration, and test activities that span New Construction (NEWCON) and modernization platforms. Your guidance will drive the delivery of a robust and reliable combat system to the Submarine Force. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with hands‑on leadership to align goals, manage schedules, drive process excellence, and foster a high‑performing collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the PaaS (Platform as a Service) team working closely with the various Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) subsystems, representing the team’s technical focus areas while maintaining transparent communication.
  • Lead the PaaS team to complete the development, test, and integration of the PaaS product to ensure it meets the needs of the various SWFTS subsystems and the Navy customer.
  • Operate autonomously under general direction; set assignment goals for the team, execute work, and present deliverables for review at critical milestones.
  • Cultivate a positive team culture by removing blockers, mentoring members, and coordinating career development plans with the leadership team.
  • Clearly communicate program objectives to the team and ensure their goals and priorities are aligned with the overall program strategy.
  • Own the team’s master schedule, tracking all milestones, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and drive mitigation of technical and schedule risks.
  • Enforce consistent execution of defined processes and procedures while partnering with the team to identify improvement opportunities and lead change implementation.
  • Assess staffing needs, coordinate with leadership to fill gaps, and allocate resources efficiently across projects and tasks.
  • Provide practical solutions to a broad spectrum of complex technical problems, ensuring they align with program objectives and constraints.
  • Influence program strategy by providing input on objectives, contributing to roadmap discussions, and driving alignment with senior leadership.

Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret (or higher) security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field) from an accredited institution with 10+ years of related experience; or comparable experience in lieu of degree.
  • Basic knowledge of Kubernetes and associated services
  • Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering and/or Software Engineering, with proven problem‑solving abilities to develop technical solutions for large‑scale, complex projects.
  • Experience with submarine combat systems or similar Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Cyber, and Intelligence (C5I) systems.
  • Experience working on teams in a geographically dispersed and virtual environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders with a high degree of technical and interpersonal competency.
  • Experience leading a team and “working through others” by assigning tasks, reviewing work product, etc.
  • Fundamental understanding of server hardware, OS, network, cyber, storage, and software development.
Desired Skills
  • Experience (or strong familiarity) with SWFTS architecture & infrastructure including operating systems, display systems, time distribution, and/or network infrastructure (switches).
  • Expert/SME knowledge in any of the areas of Kubernetes and associated services, cyber, software defined networking, and software defined storage
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence products, including experience with agile project planning, issue tracking, and collaboration tools.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering principles and tools.
  • Familiarity with GitLab.
  • Experience with software automation.
Pay Information

Full‑Time Salary Range: $166900.00 - $309900.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
