Job summary

OrthoCarolina Spine office in Charlotte is seeking a Physician Assistant to deliver medical care as delegated by physicians. The role includes in-office and hospital support, assisting in operating room procedures, and handling ER and floor consultations for a variety of orthopedic injuries.

Essential duties cover patient exams, ordering and interpreting tests, injections and wound care, cast management, and perioperative assistance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.
• North Carolina PA license.
• Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
• Prior orthopedic experience preferred.
• Prior experience as a physician assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
• Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff.
• Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Assesses, applies and/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.
• Serves as assist-at-surgery for orthopedic procedures.
• Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, applies appropriate codes and charges for service, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
• Dictates patient records including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes, consultations and office visit notes. Documents patient information and care provided in patient record. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
• Rounds on hospital inpatients as directed by supervising physician(s) to hospitals assigned and performs emergency room and floor consultations as assigned.
