Job summary

Methodist Hospitals in Indiana is seeking a licensed Physician Assistant to provide medical services within the neurosurgery area. Working under direction in a physician office practice setting, you will perform exams, coordinate patient education, and support surgical and clinical activities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized college or university and Physician Assistant training program.
• Bachelor's Healthcare Related required.
• Licensed Physician Assistant with current Indiana license.
• 2 years neurosurgery or neurology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs a complete physical exam, including the complete system on patients identifying abnormalities and changes, and documents findings in the patients chart and relays pertinent information to the physician.
• Identifies patient educational needs and designs and implements a comprehensive patient education plan.
• Assists in identifying potential areas of program development, developing strategic implementation plan, identifying, implementing and coordinating program development objectives from the clinical and nursing perspective, continuous monitoring and implementation of the most efficient and effective patient care systems, designing and implementing of clinical research and quality improvement projects.
• Provides leadership and direction for the program and office staff, and mentors office staff, providing leadership and direction.
• Supports the activities of the medical director, physicians, and Supervisor of Operations through consultation and direct patient care activities in physician office settings.
• Neurosurgery Addendum
• Complete hospital rounds as required.
• Assessing patients in inpatient and outpatient settings (obtaining history, performing a complete physical exam, chart documentation).
• Triage emergent consultations during business hours only if surgeon is unavailable.
• Opportunities to assist with surgical procedure (both open neurosurgical and endovascular) available if desired.
• Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Graduation from a recognized college or university and Physician Assistant training program.
• Bachelors Healthcare Related Required
• 3 Healthcare/Medical - Physician Assistant Preferred
• Licensed Physician Assistant
• 2 Years experience Neurosurgery or Neurology Preferred
