The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director, all physician partners, and their APP Manager, in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This position may include both inpatient and outpatient care depending on the needs of the service and is outlined in the clinical job expectations. Responsibilities include completion of referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre‑ and post‑procedure care, prescribing, and patient care follow‑ups. The NP/PAs will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to maximize the care we provide to our patients. As a healthcare professional, they will function as an educator for PA/NP/CNM/DO students from healthcare education programs. The role maintains scope of practice consistent with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board, Nursing Board, and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as WakeMed’s own policies. Additional certifications such as Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area of practice and will be reviewed annually during the annual review process. Basic Life Support is required within 6 months of hire. The NP understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values, and management of WakeMed.

Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (with valid nursing licensure) is required. DEA is required. Basic Life Support is required within 6 months of hire.
1 year of clinical experience as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is preferred.
