Job summary

WakeMed is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to deliver competent medical care under supervision in WakeMed Physician Practices. The role may include inpatient and outpatient duties, referrals, rounds, notes, discharge summaries, procedures, and patient follow-ups.

Educator to students and adherence to NC regulations are required. The position emphasizes collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and ongoing alignment with WakeMed policies and the Medical/Nursing Boards.

Qualifications

• 1 year clinical PA/NP experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient care under supervision of Medical Director, physicians and APP Manager
• Complete referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes and discharge summaries
• Perform procedures, clinic notes, pre/post procedure care, prescribing and patient follow-ups
• Educate PA/NP/CNM/DO students and participate in teaching activities
• Align practice with NC Medical Board/Nursing Board policies and WakeMed procedures

Overview

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director, all physician partners, and their APP Manager, in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This position can consist of both inpatient and outpatient care depending on the needs of the service and is outlined in the clinical job expectations. This may include completion of referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post procedure care, prescribing and patient care follow-ups. Will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to maximize the care we provide to our patients. As a healthcare professional, will function as an educator for PA/NP/CNM/DO students from healthcare education programs. Within this position the PA/NP will maintain the scope of practice to be consistent with the policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Nursing Board and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed. Additional certifications such as Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area of practice, this will be outlined in the clinical job expectations and reviewed annually during the annual review process. The PA/NP understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values and management of WakeMed. Basic Life Support Required within 6 months of hire.
