Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA seeks a Physician Assistant for the Critical Care Medicine team. The role supports intensivist services in an inpatient ICU, with 12-hour day/night shifts and full-time status.

Compensation reflects a physician assistant scope and critical care responsibilities. The position requires two years of CCU experience, BLS, and ACLS prior to orientation completion, with opportunities for professional development within a Magnet-designated teaching

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or higher degree meeting licensure requirements.
• National Certification in State of employment or in another state with reciprocity and licensure to practice.
• Minimum two (2) years in Critical Care managing Cardiac Surgery patients.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS – required prior to the end of the orientation period.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team. May focus on health promotion and disease prevention. May order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays. May prescribe. Works in an inpatient critical care area that also provides mechanical circulatory support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment

• National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment

• Minimum two (2) years in Critical Care managing Cardiac Surgery patients

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required prior to the end of the orientation period

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• ICU critical care experience

• Two (2) years experience as a physician assistant
