Job summary

AEP Service Corporation in Ohio is seeking an entry-level Protection & Control Technician to install, test, and maintain protection devices and related equipment at on-site facilities in Fostoria and Lima. You will work under supervision, read electrical schematics, and help with commissioning and troubleshooting of relay systems.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in ABET-accredited engineering or engineering technology, color vision testing, and a willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree (or ABET-accredited engineering technology degree) is required.
• Entry-level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree.
• Must successfully complete the Physical Abilities Test (PAT) and color distinction test.
• Ability to read electrical prints/diagrams and use hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Test fundamental protection and control devices periodically.
• Calibrate devices on a pre-established schedule.
• Assist with switching at all voltage levels under Dispatching Authority.
• Maintain test equipment and records/drawings.
• Read schematics and verify installation matches the design.
• Assist installation, maintenance, and commissioning of new P&C systems.
• Troubleshoot electromechanical relays and microprocessor relays.
