Position Overview

As a P&C Actuary, you will work with a team of industry professionals on regulatory consulting and other insurance-related engagements. In this role, you will provide insights to insurance regulators and have a meaningful impact on the insurance marketplace. This position offers opportunities for advancement and professional growth.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Serve as part of the actuarial subject matter expert team on client engagements, including:
   1. Identifying and assessing significant reserving, pricing/underwriting, capital, and reinsurance risks impacting property/casualty insurer's financial strength during risk-focused financial examinations;
   2. Reviewing rate filings that rely on complex models to assess rate reasonableness, modeling approach, and regulatory compliance;
   3. Assisting audit teams with financial statement accrual assessments;
   4. Supporting industry research and market conduct examinations;
   5. Coordinating internal resources and advising on solutions to meet project goals;
   6. Documenting observations and ensuring adherence to actuarial standards of practice;
   7. Communicating effectively with clients and project teams; and
   8. Adhering to project budgets and timelines.
2. Business and practice development efforts:
   1. Cultivating client relationships to generate additional business;
   2. Enhancing tools and templates for efficiency and excellence;
   3. Contributing to the practice's and firm's intellectual capital.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or Statistics
• Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in property and casualty insurance, financial services, or consulting
• Knowledge of reserving, pricing, ratemaking, capital modeling, and enterprise risk management
• Experience in public accounting or consulting with complex modeling and regulatory support (preferred)
• Designations such as ACAS, FCAS, MAAA are preferred
• Experience with personal, commercial lines, and reinsurance is preferred
• Understanding of insurance rates and regulatory requirements
• Experience with machine learning and AI tools is a plus
• Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, and communication skills
• Proficiency in PC software including MS Excel, Access, Visual Basic, and project planning tools
• Ability to interact with all organizational levels
• Flexibility to travel occasionally
• Knowledge of Actuarial Standards of Practice and Code of Conduct
