Job summary

Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Michigan and Farm Bureau General Insurance Company of Michigan are seeking a P/C Accountant to support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting. The role involves reconciliation, journal entries, and budgeting support in a hybrid setting, with onsite work in Lansing, Michigan.

P/C Accountant

• To support the Property/Casualty (P/C) Accounting functions for Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Michigan and Farm Bureau General Insurance Company of Michigan. To include participation in preparation of all financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Provide support in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Assist in daily reconciliation of accounts, posting and recording journal entries.
• Provide support to P/C Accounting team for analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual results.
• Assist in the preparation of the P/C companies' annual budgets.
• Assist in reinsurance accounting, assumed and ceded.

Required:

• Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting required.
• Minimum one to three years accounting experience required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred:

• Understanding of statutory accounting principles and knowledge of insurance preferred.

Note:

This is a Hybrid position working both remotely (in the State of Michigan) and Onsite at the Farm Bureau Home Office located in Lansing, Michigan.
