Job summary

Michigan Farm Bureau is seeking a P/C Accountant to support the Property/Casualty accounting functions for Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Michigan and Farm Bureau General Insurance Company of Michigan, participating in monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.

The role covers preparation of financial statements, daily reconciliation, journal entries, and analysis with the P/C Accounting team, plus assisting in the annual budget process and reinsurance accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience is required.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel is required.

P/C Accountant

• To support the Property/Casualty (P/C) Accounting functions for Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Michigan and Farm Bureau General Insurance Company of Michigan. To include participation in preparation of all financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Provide support in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Assist in daily reconciliation of accounts, posting and recording journal entries.
• Provide support to P/C Accounting team for analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual results.
• Assist in the preparation of the P/C companies' annual budgets.
• Assist in reinsurance accounting, assumed and ceded.

Required:

• Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting required.
• Minimum one to three years accounting experience required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred:

• Understanding of statutory accounting principles and knowledge of insurance preferred.

Note:

This is a Hybrid position working both remotely (in the State of Michigan) and Onsite at the Farm Bureau Home Office located in Lansing, Michigan.
