Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, our Defense Systems wants you to join our Team as a P-8 SCA Aircraft Mechanic 3 - Lead. These positions are located in Lake Charles, LA.

The Navy P8-A is based on the Boeing 737-800 platform. The P-8 operates in anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASUW), and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) roles. This is a maintenance and sustainment program performing depot level operations.

SCA Mechanic 3 Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.

  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.

  • Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

  • Removes major components from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembles and inspects parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairs or replaces defective parts and reassembles/installs.

  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.

  • Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.

  • Enters description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily.

  • Services engines and airframe components.

  • Maintains schedules and quality standards.

  • This position provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians.

Lead Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists operations manager to ensure O&A and basic job assignments meet the daily goals.

  • Assists operations manager in clarifying data for the development weekly variance analysis for both basic and O&A tasks.

  • Removes constraints throughout the day.

  • Elevates shop floor issues relating to quality/cost/schedule to the operations manager for both basic and O&A tasks.

  • Creates daily work plans, turnovers, etc.

  • Conducts training of mechanics as required.

  • Supports safety and quality initiatives.

  • Supports internal and external audits.

  • Monitors compliance and addresses questions and concerns related to work instructions, processes, and procedures.

  • Provides feedback to the operations manager regarding team engagement, dynamics, and performance.

  • Assists in preparing, developing, and coordinating the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to meet all program objectives.

  • Creates production work order documentation for release to the shop floor.

  • Works with materials planning to determine and schedule materials needed to cover production demand.

  • Coordinates with operations manager to determine staffing requirements for production operations to meet schedule demands.

  • Monitors jobs to ensure they will be completed on schedule.

  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance, Materials Purchasing, and other staff.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years related experience in planning or support role.

  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and tag writing.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Power Point).

  • Experience with public speaking.

  • Flexible & willing to work various shifts, to include weekends to support the mission as needed.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • U.S. Citizenship.

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance if required by the Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.

  • Experience in a lead/supervisor role.

  • Experience with Team Center programs.

  • Experience with MyBoeingFleet.

  • Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) experience and Schedule Management.

  • Experience and involvement with production or materials planning.

  • Familiar with process development and implementation.

Salary Range: $35 - $39

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
