Job summary

Cheeky's in St. Petersburg is hiring Oyster Shuckers to join our kitchen team on a full-time, hourly basis.

As part of a new neighborhood seafood restaurant and oyster bar, you will help us set a high standard for hospitality with teamwork and precision at the shucking station. We offer starting wages from $15 to $24 per hour, meal during shift, clear paths to advancement, paid time off, holidays off, and restaurant discounts.

Responsibilities

• Lead station duties with focus on consistency and quality.
• Maintain relation with Sous and Executive Chefs for clear expectations.

• Restock items and assist kitchen staff as needed.
• Ensure proper safety and sanitation.

OPENING SOON! Cheeky's is a neighborhood seafood restaurant and oyster bar opening soon along St. Petersburg's Grand Central District. A mix between a salty Old Florida fish shack and a classic New England oyster bar, with a menu of classic American dishes and something for everyone.

We are excited to bring a fresh dining experience to the community, featuring a menu inspired by simple and classic American dishes, seasonal ingredients and bold flavors. Our restaurant is dedicated to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests can enjoy exceptional food and service.

Behind the bar we're shaking up classic drinks and serving frozen cocktails. Our wine list is full of small production and natural bottles. Light local beers on tap and a deep list of no & low alcohol drinks round out the menu. We're an easy-going spot with friendly service, good for the whole family. Grab a seat along our sidewalk patio for great people watching (dog-friendly too!) or in the dining room surrounding our horseshoe bar.

As we prepare for our opening, we are looking for passionate individuals to join our team and help us set a new standard for hospitality in St. Petersburg.

Schedule

Team Responsibilities

Teamwork is the essential element of your position at Cheeky's. Everyone is equally responsible for ensuring the experience of our guests is extraordinary. The words "no" and "it's not my job" are never to be used. There are no boundaries in these duties, in addition to the specific job responsibilities listed.

Dishwashers are critical to the overall team success, working to prepare items to be used for service. This is a great entry level position to sharpen your skills for a career in a professional kitchen.

The cleanliness and maintenance of the restaurant is everyone's responsibility. Always check the floor, service stations, restrooms, etc. for debris and do not pass it by if you notice that something is needed. If you see something, say something!

JOB DETAILS

Our Oyster Shuckers lead busy a station during, before, during and after service with a close eye on consistency and quality. You'll have a great relationship with your Sous Chef and Executive Chef, who will provide clear expectations and support to exceed in this role.

• Cleans & prepares shellfish for serving to customers
• Consistently follow recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards
• Rotates oysters daily, oldest on top
• Provide fast, accurate shucking of oysters
• Restock all items through each shiftProvide assistance to kitchen manager and kitchen staff with food preparation
• Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored and safely used
• Follows proper safety and sanitation processes including organizing shellfish tags

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
• Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping required to serve guests and perform side work.
• Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds regularly, such as trays with food and beverages.
• Ability to move quickly and efficiently between dining and kitchen areas.
• Manual dexterity required for handling small items (e.g., glassware, silverware) and operating point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Work is performed in a fast-paced, indoor and outdoor environment that may include exposure to varying levels of noise and temperature changes.
