Job summary

The Oxford Hills School District is seeking an Instructional Coach (Mathematics) to partner with colleagues to implement practical strategies that engage students and raise learning outcomes through non-supervisory instructional leadership.

The role emphasizes coaching cycles, collaboration with teachers and school leaders, and ongoing professional development, reporting to Building Principals and contributing to district goals.

Qualifications

  • Maine Teaching Certification
  • Master's Degree or in Master's program
  • Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the implementation of the District's mission and goals.
  • Implements the core practices for student-centered coaching, including: Organizing coaching through cycles; Setting goals for coaching cycles; Using standards-based learning targets; Using student evidence to co-plan instruction; Co-teaching with a focus on effective instructional practices; Measuring the impact of coaching on student and teacher learning; Partnering with the school leader.
  • Designs systems and structures to engage teachers in coaching cycles.
  • Builds trusting and respectful relationships with teachers.
  • Provides skilled facilitation during collaboration and professional learning as needed for the school and for the district.
  • Engages in reflective dialogue with teachers based on student learning outcomes.
  • Meets regularly with the building principal to discuss the state of academics, current trends and the needs for student learning and staff professional development.
  • Maintains currency in research-based instructional practices and engages in coach training and ongoing professional development.
  • Assists in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve the focus of instructional planning and student achievement.
  • Assists grade level teams in setting goals for improved instruction and intervention implementation.
  • Attends meetings as assigned (such as leadership team, PLC, district meetings, etc)
  • Maintains records and prepares forms and reports as directed. (such as coaching logs, calendars, meeting minutes, etc.)
  • Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

  • Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience


REPORTS TO: Building Principals


JOB GOAL: Work with colleagues to introduce new learning to students by focusing on practical strategies for engaging students and improving their learning through non-supervisory instructional leadership.


Performance Responsibilities

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: See current Agreement between the MSAD #17 Board of Directors and the Oxford Hills Education Association.


EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Principal in collaboration with the Curriculum Coordinator for Instructional Coaching.
