The Oxford Hills School District invites applications for the position of High School Girls Assistant Soccer Coach at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. This one-year coaching role requires CPR/First Aid readiness, coaching experience, and district approval.

You’ll help student-athletes develop skills, discipline, and teamwork while coordinating with the Athletic Director on practice and competition schedules.

Qualifications

  • Successful coaching experience preferred
  • CPR, AFEP Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid Courses or equivalent (may take within first year as a coach)
  • At least 20 years of age
  • High School diploma
  • Must be approved by the Oxford Hills School District
  • Must sign a statement understanding and complying with MPA By-Laws, policies and Code of Ethics

Responsibilities

  • Coaches individual participants in skills for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
  • Works closely with the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and/or interscholastic contests.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate.
  • Maintains attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork.
  • Oversees safety conditions of the facility or area in which the sport is conducted.
  • Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition.
  • Enforces discipline and sportsmanship at all times.
  • Works with middle school/junior varsity/freshman programs as appropriate.
  • Attends lectures, rules interpretations and clinics to stay updated.
  • Meets with parents, media, boosters to improve public relations and support for the sport and athletics.
  • Carries out procedures for prevention, care and treatment of athletic injuries.
  • Assumes other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.

Job Goal

To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Supports the District's mission and goals.
  • Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
  • Works closely with the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and/or interscholastic contests.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniform, as appropriate.
  • Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
  • Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in his/her sport.
  • Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
  • Works closely with middle school, junior varsity and freshman programs, as appropriate and/or makes suggestions that benefit athletes at all times.
  • Attends lectures, rules interpretations and clinics to keep abreast of changes and methods that would improve the program.
  • Meets with parents, the news media, booster groups and youth organizations to improve public relations and encourages support for the sport and other athletic activities.
  • Carries out procedures for the prevention, care and treatment of athletic injuries.
  • Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Athletic Director.
Terms Of Employment

One year position. See current Agreement Between the MSAD#17 Board of Directors and the Oxford Hills Education Association.
