Job summary

Hughes Marino in Orange County is seeking a Project Accountant to support the project management team from the owner's perspective, ensuring every dollar is tracked, invoices validated, and budgets defended.

You will review contractor invoices, monitor costs, support monthly financial reporting, and coordinate with project managers across multiple construction projects, using Procore or e-Builder to maintain data integrity and drive accurate cost-to-complete forecasts, reconciliations, and

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting or financial management experience in construction, real estate, or related industry.
• Experience with construction pay applications, lien waivers, and cost-to-complete forecasting preferred.
• Strong financial acumen in budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting.
• Familiarity with commercial construction workflows and vendor invoicing processes.
• Experience supporting or overseeing construction budgets.

Responsibilities

• Review, validate, and process contractor and vendor invoices, pay applications, and lien waivers.
• Maintain project budgets, commitments, and cost-to-complete forecasts.
• Collaborate with project managers to develop budgets and forecasts across multiple projects.
• Track and review project costs, change orders, and invoices for accuracy.
• Monitor financial performance and flag variances or cost concerns.
• Support monthly financial reports and client-facing budget updates.
• Manage close-out processes, reconciliations, and final reporting.
• Review leases and work letters for construction-related terms.
• Coordinate TI allowance tracking and reimbursements with brokers.
• Maintain PMIS data integrity and coordinate with external auditors and client finance teams.
