Job summary

Veterinary Practice Partners in the Greater Sacramento area seeks an experienced veterinarian to become Medical Director and owner of a practice. The opportunity lets you shape medical strategy, build a talented team, and create the hospital's culture and long-term vision within an existing space.

You will lead medicine, with VPP providing operational, financial, HR, recruiting, and marketing support to focus on clinical excellence and team growth.

Qualifications

• DVM degree or equivalent required.
• Active California veterinary license or ability to obtain.
• 3+ years clinical experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Interest in practice ownership and building a hospital for long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Establish and uphold medical standards and protocols.
• Lead effective case flow and clinical decision-making.
• Ensure high-quality patient care and clear client communication.
• Oversee medical record accuracy and charge capture.
• Identify and implement clinical service enhancements.
• Help recruit, hire, and onboard veterinarians and support staff.
• Build and develop a strong clinical team.
• Mentor associate veterinarians and support continued clinical development.
• Contribute to operational strategy and scheduling.
• Foster a collaborative, team-first culture.
• Help shape the hospital's identity and long-term vision.
• Drive revenue growth while maintaining medical excellence.
• Participate in annual planning and performance review.
• Support marketing and community engagement initiatives.
