Job description

Job Title: Bartender

The Bartender’s role is to tend the bar and create memorable guest experiences. As one of the first and last points of contact, you must be personable, anticipative of guest needs, and able to work with a warm, knowledgeable, and appreciative demeanor. Your responsibilities include coordinating bar activities to ensure guest satisfaction and collaborating effectively with managers and colleagues, leading by example.

The Overstory/SAGA Bartender is not just about serving drinks; it's about hosting the evening, setting the tone, sharing stories, and enhancing the overall experience. A thorough knowledge of classic cocktails, food, and wine is essential. Curiosity and an eagerness to learn more are highly valued, especially as the bar program emphasizes classic cocktails with culinary applications.

Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent guest service, creating personalized experiences for all guests.
  • Maintain knowledge of cocktails, wine, and spirits, and continue to educate oneself.
  • Work seamlessly with the team, including managers and co-workers.
Skills & Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a fine dining, cocktail-centric environment as a server or bartender.
  • Warm, positive, and appreciative demeanor towards guests and colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of food, wine, and spirits; eagerness to learn.
  • Proficiency with digital point-of-sale systems.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to accept feedback, and leadership qualities.
  • Ability to personalize service and adapt to guest needs.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and passion for hospitality.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand for over 5 hours.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfort with bending, sitting, walking, stairs, heights, elevators, and small spaces.
