Job description

NFI Massachusetts Inc., a non-profit human services agency, is currently seeking an Overnight Residential Counselor for our Intensive Residential Treatment Programs located in Westborough, MA.

The IRTP's are short-term locked facilities serving male and female youth who are referred through the Department of Mental Health (DMH). NFI’s two, fifteen bed IRTPsare state-wide residential programs for adolescents who have a serious mental illness and/or severe emotional and/or behavioral disturbances.

The two programs provide vigorous treatment in a locked setting for youth who are unable to be safely treated in a less restrictive setting. The programs are highly resourced with highly trained and credentialed staff which include child psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy, clinical services, in-house education and therapeuticmilieu.

Youth are referred by the Department of Mental Health (DMH). The program is structured in a trauma-informed, family focused environment. The therapeutic milieu and educational day programming are designed to foster success after transitioning out of the program.

We are seeking dedicated and qualified candidates with strong leadership skills to provide direct care to youth served within the program.

Hourly: $22/hour

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the safety and security of the youth served.
  • Providing these youth support.
  • Mentoring.
  • Guidance.
  • Demonstrating positive role modeling so they may elect healthier choices to and learn new skills to use upon their discharge from the program.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with a similar population.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in psychology, sociology or other related field of study preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle is a must.
  • Must be fully vaccinated or willing to be vaccinated against COVID 19, per state regulations
