Job summary

Home Instead - Columbia is seeking dependable caregivers to support seniors in the Columbia area. You will help clients stay safe and independent at home, with a focus on dementia care and person-centered support.

We value calm, patient, observant, and confident caregivers who build relationships and respect client dignity. Overnight sessions and weekend shifts are common, with opportunities to adapt to client needs and preferences.

Qualifications

• Professional caregiving experience required.
• Strong Alzheimer’s and dementia care experience preferred.
• Experience with personal care, transfers, and walkers.
• Able to remain alert and responsive during overnight shifts.
• Must be available to work at least one weekend shift each week.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living.
• Support safe transfers, walking, and mobility.
• Provide overnight supervision, reassurance, and redirection as needed.
• Assist with toileting and nighttime routines.
• Offer companionship and meaningful engagement.
• Assist with hearing aids.
• Prepare meals and follow recipes.
• Complete light housekeeping and laundry.
• Encourage walking, exercise, and outdoor time.
• Support activities such as music, conversation, and community outings.
• Observe and communicate changes or concerns to the office.
• Arrive on time and reliably fulfill scheduled shifts.
