Job summary

Advanced Animal Care in Richmond, KY is seeking an Overnight Treatment Technician to join our 24/7 hospital team. You will support doctors by implementing treatment plans, running diagnostics, and administering medications for critical patients.

Candidates must be a licensed veterinary technician or have equivalent emergency/critical-care experience; familiarity with Cornerstone and Smart-flow is a plus. Shifts run 8pm–8am; weekend and holiday availability preferred and benefits include health

Qualifications

• Licensed Vet Technician or equivalent emergency/critical care experience.
• Knowledge of critical patient treatment plans.
• Proficient use of medical terminology.
• Proper animal restraint and peripheral catheter placement.
• Recording vital signs and basic labs.
• Knowledge of drug administration routes.
• Anesthetic monitoring, surgical prep and aseptic area prep.
• Maintaining medical records and computer skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Overnight Treatment Technicians are responsible for:

• Completing the treatment plan prescribed by Doctors
• Running diagnostic tests per doctor on duty orders
• Medication administration
• Intake and discharge of hospitalized patients
• Discussing financial standings and patient updates with pet owners
• Maintaining daily hospital charges
• Patient charting and notes on our Smart-flow System/ Cornerstone
• Administering medications to boarded pets as needed
• Maintaining a clean treatment area
• Anesthesia monitoring during surgery

This person should maintain a positive attitude, provide excellent patient care and customer service. A candidate for this position should demonstrate a passion for patient quality of care, should be a licensed veterinary technician or have equivalent experience in emergency or critical care.

Requirements/Responsibilities

• Licensed Vet Technicianor
• Equal experience in emergency or critical careSkills Required:Understanding and confidence with the treatment plans for critical patients (Cytauxzoonosis, DKA, GDV, Parvovirus, Kidney Failure, IMHA, ITP, Trauma/Shock, CHF, Seizures, Toxicities, HBC, ABD, etc)
• Proficient use of medical terminology
• Proper animal restraint
• Peripheral catheter placement
• Venipuncture
• Basic bandage application
• Administration of oral and parenteral medications
• Knowledge of various routes of drug administration
• Anesthetic monitoring, Surgical scrubbing, gowning, and surgical prep.
• Aseptic surgical area preparation
• Recording vital signs (Temp, Pulse, Resp BP, and Pain Asses.)
• Perform basic laboratory tests (CBC, Chem17+Lytes, T4, Phenobarbital levels, All Snap Test, Urinalysis, Coags, Blood slides , Ear cytology, PCV/TS, Fecal, etc)
• Maintain proper medical records and computer skills
• Knowledge of in-house and reference laboratory tests
• Knowledge in the use of Cornerstone and Smart-flow are preferred, but not required

Schedule Requirements: For the overnight position we are looking for someone able to work 8pm-8am. Being a 24/7 hospital our team members have to be willing to work 12 hour shifts, some weekends and volunteer for holidays.
