We are looking for a full‑time Veterinary Technician for the overnight shift to join our team.

Description

Our Veterinary Technicians are responsible for performing advanced medical, diagnostic, and laboratory procedures under the direction of a licensed veterinarian. This is a full‑time position. Hours are Wednesday through Friday 7:00 pm – 6:00 am and Saturday 7:00 pm – 1:00 am.

Essential Job Functions

• Take history from client; perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in the medical record.
• Triage patients and determine if they are stable or critical.
• Communicate with doctors, technicians, office staff, and clients regarding patient status.
• Educate clients on preventative healthcare recommendations and provide follow‑up.
• Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, conduct in‑house laboratory tests, and prepare forms for outside labs; call owners with results as requested by the veterinarian.
• Prepare exam rooms and assist during appointments with doctors.
• Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by the veterinarian.
• Prepare fluid therapy: infuse pump or syringe pump setup, appropriate IVF setup, fluid types and rates for administration, CRI calculations, and monitoring.
• Assist the veterinarian in all aspects during surgical procedures: pre‑medication, setup, induction, preparation, maintenance of anesthesia, surgical monitoring, assistance, recovery, writing post‑op orders, and pain‑management protocols.
• Provide and monitor all nursing care as directed by the veterinarian for admitted patients, including medications by all routes and monitoring.
• Admit and discharge patients to the hospital following all protocols; educate clients on admission and discharge.
• Clean and restock exam and treatment rooms, hospital wards, and other areas as requested.
• Dispense veterinarian‑approved medication, patient food, print treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, X‑ray and lab labels; record communication with clients and doctors.
• Prepare patients for discharge to owners, including education about home care and medication to be given.
