Job summary

MedVet is an emergency and specialty veterinary group seeking a Nursing/ICU Veterinary Technician for overnight shifts. You will support critical care patients, assist with procedures, and collaborate with DVMs to execute treatment plans in a fast-paced hospital.

Ideal candidates hold a state veterinary technician license, have prior veterinary/nursing experience, and excel at calculations, client communication, and adapting to flexible hours.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; nursing/critical care experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions, etc.).
• Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds and discuss cases as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans and nursing concerns.
• Provide client education including home care, medications, and wellness updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside testing.
