This non-exempt position works overnight hours in the Care Department and reports to the Care Manager / Medication Manager to provide management and oversight of the Overnight shift and the transition from PM to Overnight and Overnight to AM. This position collaborates with other overnight staff to supervise all residents in the community and ensure their safety and security. It is the first point of contact on the overnight shift for managers, family members, and residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide care and supervision appropriate to each resident, fulfilling community standards with excellence.
- Execute emergency procedures and participate in monthly drills, including elopement and fire drills.
- Interact effectively with emergency personnel, providing necessary resident medical records.
- Remain on the premises awake or assign another employee if on a break, capable of responding within 10 minutes.
- Dispense overnight medications following community protocols.
- Complete all mandated training, including Care, Dementia, and Medication Management.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as continence care, showering, grooming, transfer assistance, and meal support.
- Follow care plans and document care provided accurately.
- Take scheduled rest and meal breaks.
- Serve as the point of contact for Resident / Family concerns.
- Follow reporting protocols as appropriate.
- Adhere to company and community policies.
- Report and document resident or staff concerns to the appropriate managers.
- Visit new residents or those returning from hospital/rehab to assess needs.
- Collaborate with the overnight team to complete task sheets and shift reports.
- Ensure incident reports are completed properly.
- Conduct community walk-throughs.
- Manage radios and keys, turning them in at shift end.
- Transfer resident concerns to the incoming shift.
- Manage call-offs to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Report staff shortages to the Department Manager.
Safe Working Program
- Report accidents, injuries, or safety violations.
- Complete all training requirements within the first 30 days.
- Follow precautions related to contagious diseases and infections.
- Wear appropriate clothing and shoes.
- Work environment includes moderate noise levels and may involve outdoor work and exposure to pets.
- Must be patient when working with senior residents aged 60-100+.
- Frequently required to walk, stand, or kneel; may lift/move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Qualifications
- Effective communication skills.
- Good interaction with residents, families, staff, and future residents.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years old per Title 22.
- First aid trained and certified (community-provided).
- Clear DOJ and FBI fingerprint checks.
- Health screening and TB test within the last six months.
